General Awesomeness -- Check!

It's always fun to have a tourist around. That way you can still maintain your city chic cool demeanor without admitting that you actually enjoy the tourist attractions and typical hot spots. This weekend was awesome because I got to go all around Chicago with Nicole, and go to places that we normally don't venture to because we like to pretend that we are locals, and annoyed with mass crowds. Despite the absolutely perfect weather, there weren't that many people around Millennium Park and Navy Pier (first two tourist things to check off the list!) We took SOO MANY PICTURES by the Bean, seriously, this place breeds camera whores.

Katie proposed to Abby -- She. Said. Yes.

and Nicole almost fell to her death, phew! close call.

After the Park, Alexis made friends with the neighborly CTA drivers, so we could find our way to Navy Pier... I mean NAVY FEAR! j.k. y'alls... We finally got to the ferris wheel after only about a bazillion years of waiting! Yayyy!

This is not a stock photo, I'm artsy, duh.

Then! The tourist became the guide! Gasp! Nicole had found out about a great show in the Wicker Park area, it was a fantastic spoof of all things good in the world. Afterwards I'm pretty sure my cheeks hurt for about a half hour just from all the laughing!

Doooon't Stop Bl-eeeeeding...

P.S. Shout out to Will who talked me through writing this awesome post. Woot Woot!

Your Birthday's October 11th?!

Annie and Hallie have been a huge part of my life for over 12 years. It only seems right honor their 24th birthday in style. Although Jackie might have been mislead into thinking that this weekend was about her marathon, the countdown was truly for this most excellent of days. Naturally the wolf pack had movie night and chose "The Parent Trap." While watching, cinematically, we became very concerned over many elements of the film...

Why do they let the boy stay ALL SUMMER?

Why was Hallie crouching behind the duffle bags?

Why does Annie turn around?

Who thinks letting the bride wear a top hat is a good idea?

Do you have to wear Camp Walden gear all the time?

Why was the whole camp escorting them to the Isolation Cabin?

How did they get that kid from those parents?

Does Mere"death" know how to knit?

Was Annie invited to the Wedding?

Why did they not make this into a musical?

If anyone can offer answers to these mind-boggling questions, they will be our best friend forever. Sarah, the talent manger, will make provisions to indict them into the pack asap. In honor of this day, Sarah and I had an Annie and Hallie moment on the El. We grabbed the handles and apparantly stood up at the SAME time, Bingo. All these moment and it wasn't until the end when we realized the Natasha Richardson was no longer. Sad day.
Besides celebrating, we learned an important lesson today. VHS's have magical powers. They make you forget that they are buzzing for the last ten minutes, as long as the movie is a 90's cult classic. If you know all the words, the sound doesn't really matter now does it? In the end, the only important thing is to rewind, then you know you are a grown-up, that takes responsibility.

And for your viewing pleasure, a reanactment.

Push, Push Baby Don't Stop for a Minute

I hate running. But, I decided slash was convinced that I was going to give up on years of inactivity and start seriously running. I know, ew. That was my first thought too. But, it turns out it's not too bad. It's actaually... fun (gasp!). Running along the Lakeshore is cool (tempurature that is) and serene and pretty. I have started to notice that I actually crave running sometimes! Sure, it's tiring, since I have never been a runner, but having a great training partner makes up for it! Wink Wink Sarah Akers. I know she would never willingly make me run frantically for an extra mile and a half looking for her on the trail. Just Kidding. We decided our first race is going to be modest, just a 10K on Thanksgiving, but Jackie is super excited for us! (She is running a MARATHON tomorrow, by the way, no big deal or anything). It's awesome because I feel like I have pushed myself to do many things in my life, but never anything physical, so it's a good change of pace. I finally have a reason for wearing all my Lululemon clothes, and a reason to feed my obsession! To keep me motivated, I have been introduced to the great invention of NASTY RAP. It's fantastic. My favorite song to jam to while running is Push! among others that will not be discussed here. Hehe. My running playlist will hopefully keep me on this motivation high for the next 6 weeks until we are in our first real like race! Psh and I know a marathon will be coming right up after that, duh.
